Dynamic text replacement

Dynamic text replacement (DTR) is used for targeted advertising, it allows changing the section text depending on the links your visitors have followed.

Designing and starting Dynamic text replacement

To enable Dynamic text replacement in the section settings, click the “…” button, then switch on the toggle. The DTR icon appears in the top left corner.

In the Default text field, enter the text which your visitors will see following the main link. For example, let's take concert.com as our main link and the default text “Welcome to the electronics concert”.

Then copy {{utm_term}} from Insert into your text field and paste it where the default text should display.

Now you have the main link. If you want to change the title, enter concert.com/?utm_term= into the address bar; after the “=” sign type the text which will become the title.

If you enter the link concert.com/?utm_term=Electronics concert in 404 club, then the landing page will open with the title “Electronics concert in 404 club.

If you enter the link concert.com/?utm_term=Electronics concert in LOST club, then the landing page will open with the title “Electronics concert in LOST club”.

If you enter concert.com/, then the landing page will open with the default text “Welcome to the electronics concert”.

If you are using several words, just press the space bar between the words. When the link becomes active, “spaces” are automatically replaced with %20.

You can also generate links with UTM parameters in AnalyticsUTM Builder. In the Keyword field, enter the title you need and copy the created link.

Dynamic text replacement is similar to an equation with multiple variables where you can enter any word after the “=” sign. It is like a set of three building blocks:


1. Main link: You follow it and see the default text. Advertising campaigns come and go, but the default text remains.

2. Connecting element: You add /?utm_term= after the main link.

3. Variable: You enter any words after the = sign.

All the other settings of DTR are configured in your advertising campaign settings.
